After Britain's exit from the European Union, Ireland has got a status as a major English-speaking country among the 27-EU member states. The Irish government intends to make the best use of this advantage and attract more international students from all over the world, especially those from USA, China and India. In the global Peace index, Ireland is ranked 3rd in the world and 13th in the world happiness Index. Further, the Bloomberg Innovation Index 2021 has ranked Ireland as the 17th most innovative country in the world
In order to attract international students, Ireland Universities offer hundreds of scholarship and various funding programmes.
A data released by the Higher Education Authority (HEA), Ireland shows that the number of internationally domiciled students has increased from 31,720 in 2021/22 to 35,140 in 2022/23.
